The Veterans Service Representative (GS-0996-07 Target 11) is located in the Pension Management Center, Veterans Benefits Administration, VA Regional Office, Milwaukee, WI.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a counselor or advocate for VA claimants providing information about a broad range of benefits and assisting with applications for VA benefits and services.
  • Functions as a legal technician gathering requisite evidence from medical, military, community, and other sources to support benefit determinations.
  • Makes decisions by weighing the evidence and applying the controlling laws and regulations.
  • Uses computer systems to enter data to generate accurate benefit payments, controls pending issues, schedules future actions, releases complete and correct notifications of benefits determinations.
  • Demonstrate appropriate interpretation and application of law and established procedures.

Individual(s) selected for this position must be available to attend a mandatory 8-week consecutive training session. This training may require official government travel away from the permanent duty station to a different city and/or state. Flexitour is not available during training. In addition to meeting all legal and statutory requirements for promotion, employees must successfully complete the VBA-Approved Certification Process for promotion to the GS-09/10/11 lev
